Let me introduce the novel i chose XD

Let me introduce my novel.  I chose “Bridget Jones’s Diary” written by Helen Fielding.  It is a romance novel that has a form of individual diary.  There are 271 pages in this book and I’m on 121 pages now.  This story takes part in the present-day in England.  The weather in this book is changing because it is one-year diary of Bridget Jones.  As a matter of course, Bridget Jones tells about her daily life; for example, there are her love, misunderstanding, parting and meeting.  She usually writes a sentence without a subject and uses lots of slangs.  Therefore, I cannot understand what she means perfectly.  I think it has local color that is about England and people can realized those facts in every parts of this book; indeed, there are some kinds of the British ways of talking, custom, practice and so on.  Occuring in England, this is common story about a career woman in these days so it can take place in many places.

Next I will tell about my favorite character.  To tell the truth, I like Mark Darcy who will be Bridget’s boyfriend but he doesn’t appear apparently yet on my page.  So now, I like Bridget Jones who is the main character in this book.  She is one of common career women who can’t marry because of their jobs. That is an old lady.  Frankly speaking, she doesn’t have any abilities especially about love and wishy-washy because she frequently makes mistakes.  Moreover, most people except for her friends usually ignore her.  Sometimes she even makes me embarrassed because of her foolishness and poor situations.  However she is really positive and humorous.  She is not perfect so different from main characters in other novels, and she is frank with everything.  For these reasons, I feel really familiar with her and cannot hate her.  She is worried about everything such as her weight, how she can attract the guy who she loves and so on like women in reality.  Therefore, I think I’m similar with her, and I can connect emotionally with her while I read this book.  However she’d better be more decisive on love.  She always accepts Daniel who is her boss even though he toys with her affection.  I want her not to follow only her instinct at all.  Anyway, Bridget Jones is my favorite character.

Summary)

According to this article, a woman who operates a farm was found guilty because she let a young girl see a dog being euthanized. In fact, she was giving mercy killing to 3 dogs which injured a man and killed a cat. A judge ruled that this situation was so violent that can endanger child but not guilty in animal cruelty. However, the woman looked that she couldn’t accept this judgment; so, she said that there was no substantive investigation in our criminal justice system and added it was a sad commentary.

I also don’t agree the judgment that she was guilty because it’s an excessive punishment. The judgment that was sentenced made her lose reputation and even damaged her family and her business. Honestly, that situation was a little bit her mistake that made a kid witness a dog dying. Yet, it was just a euthanasia, not violent killing. It made a girl be curious, but didn’t influence her badly as judge’s saying. I mean that is a severe punishment comparing to her mistake.

I'm Seonmin Park from South Korea and 20 yrs old! That is I'm suphomore of University in Korea! I'm majoring in English Language&Literature so I came to seattle for studying English especially "speaking skill".

Most students in my university are pretty good at all parts of English such as reading, writting, speakng and etc. They also have experience going abroad for studying English. Some students are even really like native speaker. For these reasons, I lost my self-respect so I finally decided to come to Seattle and SCCC :)

This is my second quater and I started my first quater in last summer!
At that time, I was in lev. 3 but I got good grade at SLEP test and I jumped to lev.5^.^!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm really proud of myself. Now I'm taking 3 classes: Intercultural communication(Hum), AW5 and CB5

You guys may think I chose my major for my interest. However, that's not true. Honestly I don't like English. I mean, I like English as the method for communication but hate learning it in detail as major. I studied phonetics, phonology, syntax and something like that in last year because of my major. As you know, it's really hard, boring and terrible. It doesn't help me to use English besides it's not pratical. Therefore, I will do multi-majoring! I don't choose another major yet because it's a pretty serious problem.

I'd better think more about it. Please recommend me interesting and useful majoring :-D lol

I like watching dramas, movies and plays especially about love story. My favorite genre is romance-comedy.
Do you know the movie "What a girl wants" and "She's the man"? Very interesting!
I recommend these movies to you guys :) The main actress in both is Amanda Bynes
She's attractive and charming! my favorite! Anyway, If you like romance-comedy, these are good for you~

My other hobbies are cooking!

When i was in Korea, I didn't like cooking but in seattle, it is being my hobby.

That is because I live without my mother so i have no choice but to cook by myself. Additionally, most my friends really like my dishes so i realized cooking is pretty interestig. I can make fried ricecake with spicy sourse(ddeock bbock gi) very well. My chinese friends very love it so I tried to cook it well :)

 Kimchi pancake(Kimchi jeon), fried rice, taco, pasta, miso soup, and etc~ i can make them delicious! Sometimes i try to cook something new! If it is successful, I can cook it for you guys >.<

By the way, this is my last quater so i will go back to Korea in December.

Although I'm going to leave USA, I want to have nice time with u guysㅠ.ㅠduring this quater.
